One
of the biggest sources of contention for fans, when their favourite books are
adapted to film, is whether the cast lives up to their expectations.
Does
the main character suit the author’s description?
Is the lead man everything that you imagined him to be?
Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen |
Hermione Granger is described in Harry Potter and
the Philosopher’s Stone as having wild, bushy brown hair, brown eyes, and
very prominent front teeth.
Emma Watson as Hermione Granger |
Bella Swan, in Twilight, is described as a
very average girl with very pale skin, brown hair, chocolate brown eyes, and a
heart-shaped face.
Kristen Stewart as Bella Swan |
What
did you think about the casting for these roles? Did these actresses live up to
your expectations?
Emma is too pretty for Hermione, but I really don't mind -- she's wonderful. And Kristen really looks gorgeous as Bella. Shame about the bad acting. ;)
ReplyDeleteAnd Emma only gets prettier as she grows up! She underwent a great transition from frizzy hair to spiral curls... Initially I thought that they should have given her the buck teeth, but I've grown so attached to Hermione as she is, that now I wouldn't have her any other way :)
ReplyDeleteI told my mother the other day that the studio lucked out with Emma -- Rupert was adorable as a little kid but grew up kinda... well, plain-looking, and Daniel isn't much better (and really short!); thankfully, Emma just became GORGEOUS.
